Abstract: One of phenomena marking the last decades of the last century that we have witnessed in many parts of the world to date is what we call call the revival of religions. On the one hand this phenome non promises a great hope concerning the socio-ec0nomic ·and technological progress of human life in modern era that it will be controlled by transcendental values taught by religions. On the other hand this phenomenon has been marked also by the emergence of religious fundamentalism and communalism that tends to be highly sectarian and exclusive by nature. This trend cannot be denied because the revival itself consists of the sense of reborn embodied in the form or the reassertion of being religious and devout. This phenomenon manifests not only in the private domain but also in the public one Still related to this phenomenon is the emergence of the sense of being threatened by the decay of society around them. This psychological situation has aroused the highly religious sensitivity among them. leading to the emergence of " purification" and " orthodoxy" movements. These movement consist of a number of small groups that• are commonly closed and exclusive. What is very interesting to note is that these movements have emerged amongst students in the universities ,who have no religious knowledge background.
